Klothea Bio's Phase I study of AKL003 — an investigational therapy designed to raise α-Klotho.
Request a ScreeningKlotho takes its name from Clotho, the Fate of Greek mythology who spins the thread of life. Dr. Makoto Kuro-o discovered the gene in 1997, finding that mice lacking it aged prematurely — while later studies showed that mice with elevated Klotho lived longer.
α-Klotho is a naturally occurring protein whose levels decline with age. In research to date, its decline has been associated with processes related to aging, kidney function, cognition and metabolic health. AKL003 is designed to raise α-Klotho levels; this study will measure how well it does so, and how safely.
GARM's Klotho Longevity Residency in Roatán introduced an immersive longevity experience. With earlier clinical work now completed in Europe, this Phase I study is the natural next step toward careful clinical evidence.
IV administration of Klothea's AKL003, under direct medical supervision.
Including a one-year subscription. During the study it records sleep, heart rate and heart-rate variability.
Screening examinations, scheduled assessments and medical supervision of every study administration.
Blood counts, liver and kidney function, glucose and HbA1c, lipids, thyroid, inflammatory markers and repeated serum α-Klotho levels.
Memory, attention, working memory and processing speed.
Grip strength, weight and BMI, plus sleep quality, quality of life, energy and fatigue.
DNA methylation analysis, biological-age clocks and telomere-length measurement, as specified in the protocol.
Your complete dataset — labs, cognitive, grip-strength, methylation and age-clock results — once the study is complete.
Your full personal dataset is released once the entire study ends. Anything needed for your medical care stays available to your physician throughout, and relevant safety findings are shared as needed. Your de-identified biomarker data will be used for research.
Request a screening below, or email our patient liaison at [email protected] to begin.
A virtual appointment with the Principal Investigator, Dr. Douglas Tucker, to answer your questions about the study.
Sign the informed consent for the eligibility screening tests and place a $1,000 deposit.
Complete your eligibility screening tests at Anylabs.
Once your results are received, a virtual pre-enrollment appointment with Dr. Humphreys.
A GARM patient liaison helps coordinate your appointment, official enrollment and treatment in Roatán. At enrollment, the balance of $19,000 is due.
Enrollment is limited to twenty participants. Share a few details and complete a short set of pre-qualification questions; our patient liaison will follow up to arrange a pre-screening conversation with the study team.
Thank you. Our patient liaison will be in touch within 24 hours to arrange your pre-screening conversation. The next step is a virtual Q&A with the Principal Investigator, Dr. Douglas Tucker.
